Ritual Makan Coto Makassar

Aroma semerbak memenuhi kedai sempit yang tertutup kain lusuh itu. Teruntuk saya, ditemani Rudy, menyantap coto Makassar adalah bagian dari ritual wajib dalam setiap kunjungan saya ke Kota Daeng. Meskipun coto Makassar mudah ditemui di berbagai kota Indonesia, menyantapnya di kota asal menawarkan sensasi berbeda.

“Saya paling suka makan di sini,” kata Rudy melanjutkan obrolan, “Coto Makassar yang di daerah Tinggimae ini meskipun terlihat kumuh tapi rasanya enak.”

Malahan mungkin justru karena kumuh itulah, makanya enak.

Coto Makassar tentu sudah tidak asing lagi bagi sebagian besar orang. Makanan khas Sulawesi Selatan ini berisi jeroan sapi yang direbus dalam waktu lama. Rebusan jeroan yang dicampur daging sapi ini dipotong kecil-kecil dan dibumbui dengan kuah kental.

Untuk menyantapnya, biasa didampingi oleh ketupat. Pertama kali tentu saya agak kebingungan, namun belakangan makanan ini menjadi salah satu favorit saya di nusantara. Asal jangan makan sering-sering. Kolesterol!
